Welcome to JAKLEN

A Community-Focused Approach to Sustainable Well-Being

JAKLEN is a nonprofit initiative rooted in Bangladesh. We believe that enduring social progress begins at the grassroots level, where village residents, women, youth, and local leaders collaborate to identify challenges and cultivate locally adapted solutions.

Based in the coastal district of Cox's Bazar, our educational outreach and thematic interests address the intersecting realities of community resilience, access to education, water and sanitation hygiene, and inclusive social participation.

Our Foundational Commitments

  • Authentic Community VoiceListening to local residents rather than imposing external assumptions.
  • Inclusion of Marginalized HouseholdsPrioritizing the dignity of women, children, day-laborers, and vulnerable people.
  • Transparency & Ethical StewardshipMaintaining absolute clarity regarding our legal identity and public activities.

Methodology & Philosophy

Our Approach to Community Development

Sustainable development cannot be distributed as an external relief package. We emphasize three guiding principles designed to foster dignity and community self-reliance:

1

Listen & Understand

We begin by consulting with local residents, appreciating the cultural context, and acknowledging traditional knowledge before identifying priorities.

2

Share Knowledge & Skills

We publish educational research and community guidelines on disaster preparedness, child protection, WASH practices, and women's literacy.

3

Promote Local Ownership

True sustainability is achieved when community members lead maintenance, organize local committees, and take pride in their collective progress.
